What is Kamu World and what are the Kamus?
The Kamu World is a cool new hangout full of action. The Kamu World is free to play for everyone. Kamus are your online friends who live in Kamu World. The name “kamu” comes from Finnish and translates to English as a friend, buddy or pal. These little guys & gals have just started to live all over the virtual Kamu World and will be appearing in numbers in the real world as well!
In the current beta version, Kamu World is being tested for chat functionality and basic customizing of your Kamu. In the future, we will offer a lot more features including more customization options, virtual items for decorating and games to play with your Kamus.
Getting started
What is visible on my screen when I visit Kamu World?
When you first time enter Kamu World, you will be guided through Kamu creation process. You can choose your Kamu name, appearance and what information you wish to reveal to other Kamus out there.
After you have created your Kamu, you can choose the chat room to visit. In the rooms, you can interract with other Kamus via normal text chat or emotes.
How can I change my Kamu’s name?
You can’t change the name of you Kamu as it is used to identify your Kamu among all of the users. So when you are creating your Kamu, take a moment to give it a good name.
How do I tell my Kamu apart from the others?
Your Kamu has its name shown in larger font and in blue color.
What are the sparks?
When you are having fun in the Kamu World, for example, by visiting new places, playing with your friends or making other Kamus happy, you get sparks. Sparks are a representation of your experience in using Kamu World. Being active gives you more sparks, which count towards your next level.
How do I get more sparks?
Kamu’s are playful and friendly creatures. It is definitely not a surprise that they look to make new buddies, meet people new to the Kamu World, fool around dancing or showing their emotions and just hang around chatting about what ever that’s going on.
Sparks are awarded for activities that make Kamu’s happy, so give it a try and find out what your Kamu is into!
What are levels?
Levels show your track record in Kamu World. Levels are visible to other Kamus unlike sparks, that are not shared with others. Once you get enough sparks, you reach a new level which in turn unlocks more activities like new Kamus and new emotes to have more fun in the Kamu World.
What are my Kamu’s emotes?
Emotes are special features that allow you to express your Kamu and show it’s feelings. You can use the emotes by clicking on your Kamu and choosing Emotes and then the appropriate emote from the list. Please note, that you unlock new emotes as you gain levels.
What does thumb ups mean?
You can give thumb ups to other Kamus, if you like them or want to give respect to their actions. If you receive thumb up, everybody in the place sees that you did well and you receive sparks for the acknowledgement. Making good friends in the Kamu World really matters! Each Kamu has a limited amount of thumbs up to give within a day, so choose carefully who you give thumbs up to. You get more thumb ups the next day.
What does the world status mean?
World status shows how much fun the Kamus across the whole Kamu World are having. The more activities and chats are going on, the happier the Kamus and the more vibrant the Kamu World is. We need you to help us save the world boredom!
What are the real world Kamu missions?
Want to take your Kamu to the real world? Print it out and take photos of it, give it to a friend or decorate your desktop or shelves! So who is going to take a picture of Kamu at you’re the desk of your boss? Or in front of a local police station? Or in a rock concert? We award sparks and other special prizes in various real world missions that you and your Kamu can participate in.
How do I print my Kamu?
You can print your Kamu by clicking on it and then by choosing Actions -> Edit Kamu -> Print your Kamu. You will receive a PDF sheet with instructions on how to assemble your own papercraft Kamu. With a little bit of work you can build your own real life Kamu!
How do I set my privacy options?
You can set your privacy options by clicking on your Kamu and then choosing Actions -> Edit Kamu and setting your privacy options as you want to. Then click Save and return to Kamu World .
Please note that your location is always shown in order to locate your Kamu where you live on the Buddy map.
How do I unlock more Kamus and emotes?
You unlock more Kamus and emotes by gaining levels. Your Kamu gains levels as you receive sparks by being active in the the Kamu World.
What are the minimum computer requirements to run Kamu World?
Kamu World runs as Adobe Flash application within your web browser. For the best performance, we recommend the latest version of Flash. The latest Flash player can be downloaded from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
We recommend a modern computer with at least 512 megabytes of memory. Kamu World runs on modern browsers such as Firefox 3.x, Internet Explorer 7, Opera 9 and Safari 4.
How do I turn sound effects off?
You can toggle various sound effects by clicking the toggle switches on the bottom, right side of the screen.

How can I improve the graphical performance?
You can increase performance a bit by pressing Toggle Graphics Quality button on the bottom, right side of the screen. This lowers the visual quality, and makes things run a bit faster.

Rules of the Kamu World
The rules of the Kamu World are very simple: be nice to other Kamus and have fun!
You may not:
- Harass other people
- Use rude or foul language
- Spam other users
If you break these rules your Kamu might get suspended from the Kamu World.
What to do if somebody is harassing you?
If you feel you are being harassed on Kamu World, you can report this abuse by clicking on the Kamu that you feel threatened by and then selecting Actions -> Report Abuse. Please describe the abuse claim in detail so that we may attempt to resolve the problem.
Please note that false reports and incorrect of the use of Report Abuse button can lead to suspension from the Kamu World.
How to give the developer’s feedback?
As Kamu World is in beta phase, all feedback and ideas are very much appreciated. You can send the feedback to us in the discussion area of the Kamu World application area in facebook. We love to get your reviews and you can also become a fan. Also join the discussion on the Kamu World discussion groups on Facebook. Finally, you can find news and information on the Kamu World application page on Facebook.
What are the Terms of Service?
The Terms of Service define the legal rules according to which you can use the Kamu World. By using Kamu World you accept the Terms of Service.

Moving in Kamuworld
How do I move around in Kamu World?

Places are just that, places in the Kamu World, that you can visit. To move from one place to another, click on the Globe icon on the button bar in the bottom of the screen. Then choose the place to visit from the list or by clicking on the icon on the map. The blue and green Kamu icons on the Place list show how many Kamus and how many buddies are in any given room. When you are at any of the places in Kamu World, you can move around simply by clicking with your mouse anywhere you want to walk to.
You can also choose whether to show all the chatrooms available or those your buddies have chosen.
Where can I go in Kamu World?
There are many places in the Kamu world where you and your Kamu can travel to. Just select the location from your world map and enter any of the places. Users can’t in this beta version yet create their own places.
Why do places appear and disappear?
Each place can fit up to 20 Kamus at any one time. If the place is full, a new copy of the place will be automatically created. Empty places will be automatically removed after a short while.
Actions in chatrooms

When you first enter a chatroom, you can start chatting immediately by typing your text to the chatbox. You can control the chatroom and kamuworld experience via the bottom bar options. Left clicking your Kamu will provide a pop-up where you can choose various Kamu editing options, emotes and actions.
What can I do with the Kamu pop-up menu?
To open up your Kamu’s pop-up menu, simply point at your Kamu and click with your left mouse button. This will bring you the basic pop-up menu to control your Kamu's actions:

On the pop-up menu that opens up, you have the following features available:
- Make an emote with your Kamu (emotes)
- Choose other actions (actions)
You will unlock more emotes when you get levels to your Kamu by getting sparks. In Actions menu, you can edit the appearance of your kamu and choose what information will be given to other Kamus when they see you. More avatar models will be available after you get sparks and advance in levels.
If you click on another Kamu, a similar pop-up menu appears that has the following features available:

In Companion tab, you can see the general information of the other Kamu what the player has chosen to show. In Actions tab, you can
- Give thumbs up for a player, if you like the actions of the other Kamu. Both will receive a small number of sparks.
- Add the Kamu as your Buddy (requires the other Kamu to accept)
- View the player's facebook profile
- Mute user completely
- Report abuse from that user
How do I personalize my Kamu?
You can personalize your Kamu by clicking on it and then by choosing Actions -> Edit Kamu and selecting any of the available Kamu looks by clicking on the left and right arrows next to the Kamu. You can unlock new looks by being active in the Kamu World!
You can also set your tagline by clicking on your Kamu and entering it next to your Kamu’s thumbnail image.
How do I check or clear the chatlog?
There is a Backlog button on the button bar on the bottom, left side of the screen. You can toggle on/off the showing of the backlog. You can clear the log with the Clear Chat button.

Connecting with friends
How do I invite my friends to Kamu World?
You can invite your friends to Kamu World by clicking on the Invite button in the button bar in the bottom of the screen.

The invite window opens and you can select between inviting friends that are currently online on Facebook (see below) and friends that are offline.
To invite friends that are offline, select the All Friends button. Select the friends you want to invite and then click Send Invite. Your friends will receive the invite and can join you in Kamu World!
How do I invite my friends to chat with me?
With the Invite window open (see above) you will see a list of your friends that are currently online on Facebook. By clicking name of the friend you want to invite, a Facebook chat will start between you and your friend with a ready made link to Kamu World. Hit enter to send the chat message to your friend and your friend can join you live on Kamu World simply by clicking this link!
What is the Buddy list?
The Buddy list shows all buddies you’ve made in the Kamu World. A buddy is a another Kamu World user, whose buddy invitation you have accepted in Kamu World. Buddies are different from your Facebook friends and their relationship with you only exists within the Kamu World. You can have as many buddies as you want to and you can invite your Facebook friends to become also your buddies in Kamu World.
Kamu World is a great place to make new friends and to hang out with them by adding them as your buddies!
How do I add buddies?
When you’ve met an interesting Kamu in Kamu World, you can become buddies by clicking on that Kamu and selecting Actions -> Add as Buddy. A buddy invitation will be sent to the Kamu.
When you receive a buddy invitation, the invitation will open up automatically on your screen. Simply select Accept to become buddies or Ignore the invitation.
How do I remove a buddy?
If for some reason you want to remove a buddy, you can do this by opening up the Buddy list via button bar in the bottom of the screen.

Then click on your buddy you wish to remove and press Remove buddy and confirm the removal.
